Aquarel, title: Seven boys and seven girls sent into the labyrinth
King Minos ordered the inventor Daedalus, and his son, Icarus, to build a huge maze known as the Labyrinth to house The Minotaur, a monster, half man, half bull.
The King then demanded that Athens pay a tribute of seven girls and seven boys every nine years. These tributes would then be sent into the Labyrinth for the Minotaur to devour.
Losing one’s child is a terrible thing. For a child to lose his parents, his safety, likewise.
Thousands of children have been sent away to a foreign country, to an unknown future.
